IF IT’S ANYTHING SHORT OF MURDER, LOGAN’S INTERESTED! The minute the dame walked up to Logan, he smelt trouble. A real looker, with tons of money and a daddy who liked to spoil her. She asked him to investigate a threatening note whose message was clear, keep your mouth shut or die. The first day on the job its fatal warning comes true, and the woman is murdered, or so it seems. Very shortly he discovers that it wasn’t the woman at all, but someone who looked very much like her .Twists and turns abound as Logan’s investigation leads him through a labyrinth of blackmail, mobs, and of course murder! Anything Short of Murder is a mystery written in the style of the pulp detective thrillers of the 1930s. It follows the investigation of a former LAPD cop who sets up shop in Hollywood during its golden era, when movies began to talk and studio heads were kings.
Praise for Anything Short of Murder
Hard-boiled and Fast Paced
This has all the action of the Pulp classics of the 30’s and 40’s. It is a great hard-boiled detective novel. Tom Logan is a private investigator who finds himself in the middle of Hollywood during the Golden Age. Just as in the old hard-boiled novels, nothing is what it seems to be. There, of course, is the lovely damsel in distress, she seems to be falling for him, but he takes dames as dames and it’s all about the next job. I can hear the detective’s deep voice as he talks about the case and what’s going on.
Tony is an excellent writer and he has nailed the perfect book of the past and the future. With clean language and clean happenings, it is exciting and captivating. I would highly recommend the purchase of this novel.
What is Hollywood like behind the scenes.
Peel away all the tinsel glitter and you will find greed, vice, sin, and sometimes murder. ~Tom Logan
